Tricuspid atresia : Cyanotic congenital heart disease with decreased pulmonary blood flowTricuspid atresia

What is the Tricuspid atresia?

Tricuspid atresia is congenital absence of the tricuspid valve, without a direct connection between the right atrium and right ventricle.
Tricuspid atresia accounts for 1–3% of all congenital heart disease. An atrial-level right-to-left shunt must be present to be compatible with life.
50% of patients present with cyanosis, and 30% present with signs of heart failure.
The right ventricle is usually hypoplastic, and treatment is surgical palliation with single ventricle repair.
