Prepatellar bursitis
- Washerwoman’s knee, housemaid’s knee, preacher’s knee
- Inflammation of bursae anterior to patella (prepatellar) or tibial tubercle (pretibial)
- Cause
- Chronic repetitive trauma due to friction or prolonged pressure
- Acute trauma
- Post-surgical
- Related to underlying disease (Gout, RA)
- Imaging
- Well-defined mass in subcutaneous space anterior to patella
- Signal usually follows fluid but may be complicated if hemorrhagic or infected
