➤ Most breast masses that develop during pregnancy and lactation are benign
4) Pregnancy associated cancer
- Breast malignancy diagnosed during pregnancy or after pregnancy upto one year
- Accounts 0.2 to 3% of all breast cancers
- Young age, associated with BRCA gene mutation
- Most PABC are in advanced stage when diagnosed
- Normal physiologic change of breast during pregnancy (such as breast tissue hypertrophy) would masking the malignancy ➠ delayed diagnosis
- Symptoms
- Nonspecific; Palpable mass, focal pain, diffuse enlargement, nipple discharge
- Imaging findings; Similar to non PABC
