Today’s case 3 – PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter)

Difficult PICC case (central vein stenosis)

Brachial vein had been punctured on ultrasonic guidance

Arrow : Focal stenosis at right innominate vein

It appears that the guidewire encountered difficulty during insertion, and upon fluoroscopy examination, it was observed to be bent in a U-shape. Consequently, a venography procedure was performed using a contrast agent, revealing a constriction in the Right innominate vein. As a result, the wire tip, which was initially perpendicular, was reshaped at an angle, allowing it to successfully pass through the narrowed section. Subsequently, a PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) was inserted without any issues.
